Pronouncing www
The abbreviation of the World Wide Web is www. People who were responsible for creating the term World Wide Web were probably not aware that the abbreviation www would be pronounced millions of times per day. When you think about it, www takes a long time to pronounce and some argued that it is the longest possible three-letter string to pronounce. Some even said that it takes a longer time to pronounce compared to what it stands for. When you think about it, “double-u-double-u-double-u” might actually take longer to pronounce compared to “World Wide Web”. Will there ever come a shortened version? It is hard to say, but in other languages pronouncing www is not that bad, so I guess that only the English speaking world has this problem.
