Measuring the Success of Your Blog

For each blogger achieving success can mean something different, depending on the goals of that person. However, there are a few statistics and rankings that can help us measure how successful our blog is. Here are just some of the ideas:

1. Number of RSS Feed subscribers. This is probably one of the most important things that can measure how successful your blog is. If you have many RSS Feed subscribers, it simply means that your blog achieved success, and that there are many readers that wish to keep coming in order to read more of your articles. Most RSS feeds allow you to measure the number of readers.
2. Overall number of people visiting your blog. It is also a good indicator, although you need returning visitors in order to keep your blog successful. You will need a tracking script like Google Analytics for this.
3. Number of comments to your posts, provided that you have them enabled. Of course, some bloggers decide to disable comments.
4. Number of unique visitors determined by IP address.
5. Amount of satisfaction you get from your blog. This is something very important, because if you are not having satisfaction from what you are doing, you are probably going to stop blogging at some point of time.
6. Respect among other bloggers, and being known in the blogosphere. Unfortunately, it is hard to measure how much respect a blogger has.
7. Income your blog generates from ads. For some blogs this may be a good indicator, as it is related to traffic. Just remember that visitors that click on an ad leave your site, unless the ad opens in a new tab.

As you see, there are many ways to judge a blog, but the most important thing is that you should simply have satisfaction from being a blogger.
