Leaving Comments

If you are visiting blogs often you probably read comments to posts as well. On different blogs, there are different types of comments left. On more popular ones, they are usually longer and more elaborate. Today I would like to give you a few tips on how to be a good commentator, and how to ensure a good name among other bloggers.

1. Go for quality, not for quantity. It is better to say little, but something thought over, rather than writing a paragraph consisting of useless phrases. Of course, you have the right to share whatever opinion you have.
2. In your comments be positive. Do not flame others. If you have something negative to say to the author, or if you noticed that he made a mistake, rather send him an email than point it out in a comment. That way you will not make him look bad in the eyes of others. Always remember to be polite. Do not use sarcasm, abbreviations that other bloggers and readers might not understand, and be careful with joking. Some people might not know that you are joking, and they might treat what you wrote too seriously.
3. Do not spam and do not give too many links to other sites in your feedback. Sometimes a webmaster can misinterpret a useful link as a spam attempt, and that is why some people avoid including links in their comments.
