Attracting Readers to Read a Post


What is the second most important part of your post besides the title? Most visitors decide whether they will read the whole post after reading the first sentence. That is why it is important what your opening sentence is. Here are some ways to attract your readers to read the whole post:

  • Begin your post by asking a question. Those who would be interested in hearing the answer will probably read the whole post. That is because they will know that they will find the answer to that question if they will keep reading. Another important element here is that it creates curiosity. I see many bloggers using this technique, whether they are advanced bloggers or not. This is a proven method to make a reader stay on your blog and a good way to attract someone’s attention.
  • Use a quote from some prominent figure from history or even your niche to draw some attention. I see it often as well. There were so many things said by prominent people in the past, that it is a smart way to quote them especially if we are writers. A quote works very well as an opener, because you tell your readers that you know the history and the literature.
  • Use the knowledge you have about your visitors to make the topic interesting to them. What would you find interesting if you would visit your own blog?
